Cole Eye Institute FACULTY POSITIONS The Cole Eye Institute is expanding its research activities in the area of age-related macular degeneration. We seek qualified and committed investigators with expertise in areas related to RPE and retina cell biology, including, but not limited to, RPE aging, RPE oxidative stress, RPE metabolism, and pathways in RPE degeneration. Highly promising early career investigators with AMD-related basic and/or translational research interests are encouraged to apply. Applications received by December 31, 2017 will be prioritized for consideration. Successful candidates must have a Ph.D, M.D. or equivalent degree, publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences. Demonstrated success in obtaining independent research funding is preferred but not required. Individuals will receive appointments as Assistant Staff (Assistant Professor equivalent), in the Department of Ophthalmic Research and the Lerner Research Institute. All new faculty will have the opportunity to apply for joint academic positions at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. New recruits will join a highly collaborative environment with outstanding opportunities for interactions with basic and translational investigators, as well as with clinicians in ophthalmology and multiple specialties. Outstanding facilities, generous start-up funds, and ongoing operational support will be provided. The Lerner Research Institute, with nearly 200 independent investigators in 10 departments and an annual budget of >$240 million, has a commitment to excellence in basic, translational and clinical research, with an emphasis on interactive, collaborative research. Faculty are members of the Molecular Medicine Graduate Training Program at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and may join other Training Programs, providing access to excellent Ph.D. students enrolled in well-developed training programs.
