The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be joining projects carried out at Bio-Acoustic MEMS in Medicine (BAMM) Laboratories supervised by Prof. Utkan DEMIRCI. The BAMM Lab’s mission is to solve medical problems at clinics by developing innovative technologies for point-of-care (POC) diagnostics and monitoring diseases conditions such as cancer and infectious diseases, as well as controlling cellular microenvironment in nanoliter droplets for biological applications. The details of this competitive position are listed in the following sections. The successful candidate will contribute to the projects that include fabrication and application of plasmonic and photonic surfaces, micro/nanoparticle imaging, lab-on-a-chip platforms, cell imaging, and building spectrophotometric platforms that will be adapted at point-of-care settings. Key Accountabilities: Degrees from Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Biomedical Engineering or Physics; Keeping up with the latest scientific updates on the field of optics, photonics, plasmonics, microfluidics, biosensing, medicine, biomedical engineering, regenerative medicine, and cell sorting tools to communicate better and influence other members; Maintaining collaborative external and internal communications. Technical & Behavioral Skills: Being open-minded and having intellectual curiosity for learning scientific updates; Seeks out innovative solutions to complex problems in the field; Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills; Proven track record in the aforementioned field; Ability to write articles, patent documents, grants, white papers, web content, or other externally facing documents; Ability to work independently, both under supervision and as a contributing team member to complete the material (paper, patent, etc.); Ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas and opinions with the lab members; and Balances exceptional attention to detail with a sense of urgency and works coordinately with the lab members. Terms of Employment: The position is intended as full-time (40 hours/week, 12 months/year) appointment; The selected postdoctoral scholar will work under close supervision of Utkan Demirci and benefit from direct mentorship.
