The National Association for Proton Therapy Selects Scott Warwick as Executive Director

WASHINGTON, Sept. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Association for Proton Therapy is pleased to announce that, after a national search led by the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, Scott Warwick has been named the association's Executive Director.  Warwick has spent more than 20 years working in comprehensive cancer center and radiation oncology operations and program development including proton therapy.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, NAPT Chairperson Vickie Miller said, "We are excited about the selection of Scott Warwick as the new Executive Director of NAPT. Scott brings a wealth of experience in the proton community and health care policy and lobbying that will successfully move our organization into the future. He will be able to provide the essential leadership to continue the NAPT mission to advance awareness of the clinical benefits of proton therapy for cancer patients, provide education to the healthcare and lay community on these benefits, and advocate for insurance coverage for this important cancer treatment."

As Executive Director of NAPT, Warwick will provide leadership to help the organization in its efforts to ensure that people with cancer have access to the benefits of proton beam therapy.  Regarding his new position, Warwick said, "I'm honored and excited about the opportunity to work with the association's proton therapy provider member institutions to increase awareness and patient access to the clinical benefits of proton therapy."

Most recently, Warwick served as the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Program Development at Provision Healthcare in Knoxville, TN and Vice President of Clinical Operations at the Provision Proton Therapy Center in Knoxville, TN from 2010-2013. He was heavily involved in the development and operation of the Provision Center for Proton Therapy and led and directed the federal and state government affairs program including advancement of 6 bills through the Tennessee house and senate.  He has also been integrally involved with Provision Healthcare including Provision Radiation Therapy, the Center for Biomedical Research, Provision Imaging and the Provision CARES Foundation in addition to his responsibilities for the Proton Therapy Center.

In addition, Warwick has spearheaded efforts to develop a large comprehensive cancer center campus that included a tertiary hospital and also successfully integrated the cancer programs of one of the largest health system mergers in the Southeastern United States. Warwick previously served as the Regional Cancer Service Line Leader at Mercy Health Partners in Knoxville, TN, the Radiation Oncology Clinical Leader at St. Mary's Health System in Knoxville, TN, and clinically practiced as a radiation therapist and medical dosimetrist for 12 years.
